Luxe Parnell Park’s not so secret café

Hiding in plain sight on the edge of Parnell Rose Gardens is the Luxerose Café.
If you’re looking for a bright and homely, parkside hangout, that offers everything from coffee and canapés, brunch, lunch, to high tea and events, look no further.
The operators of this grand two-storey eatery took it over in 2020, where it previously traded as a fine-dining restaurant.
The property carries on a long-standing tradition of hospitality, stretching back to when it was purchased by the council and renovated from a private home to be Parnell Park’s ‘tea kiosk’ in the 1920s.
Brand director Joyce Liu describes what makes Luxerose Café special and the experience people have when they visit.
“It’s a busy road but people are surprised by how quiet it is inside, perched above Parnell Rose Gardens, and we give a warm welcome,” says Joyce.
The team specialise in tailor-made experiences and all types of events, with a talented in-house chef to create the right food match for any taste.
“Our café is a great place to meet and catch-up, socially or for business. You can sit comfortably inside or on the covered deck, and we do all sorts of events, the space and even a dancefloor downstairs, or the private bar and bookable spaces upstairs,” says Joyce.
There’s something special about the style and scale of Luxerose. The building is prominent from the road, but could be mistaken for a private residence. Joyce wonders if Luxerose’s ‘secret’ location is part of their success.
“We are easy to get to, on the edge of the city and it amazes me how easily our space adapts for the meetings and events held here,” she says.
“So many people tell us of the wonderful experiences they’ve had, and the special memories made in the course of weddings, parties, business events and public gatherings held here. We love to be part of these experiences.”
Luxerose is a fully licenced café.
It is open 9am – 4pm every day and can be booked for any special occasion. The Luxerose Café building is owned by Auckland Council and managed by Eke Panuku.
